Images and ideas coming at you from 1° W 05′ : 50° N 48′

Originally started as a blog for a photography course that I started in 2008, it began to have a momentum of its own, even after the course had ended. Music and photography have been constant companions throughout my life. Until November 2009 the day job took precedent over this blog, which accounts for the intermittent postings.

From March 2010 to March 2012 the content largely reflects my experiences as a volunteer in Nepal with Voluntary Service Overseas, an independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.

Disclaimer: “The views expressed in this blog are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect those of VSO”

Update: 5 April 2012. To be continued… things that interest, inspire or irritate me…

Update: 2 May 2013. Another year older, another year wiser… More photography, music, social comment and the occasional backtracking into lost and mis-spent youth…

Thanks for stopping by.

John — John Calloway? Is this you? It surely has to be — I got here via a Dylan site, Portsmouth setting, references here to Patti Smith (remember seeing her — standing room only — in Edinburgh in 1978?) and lots of other stuff I can imagine my old friend liking.

Especially pleased to see, John, that you got into Alex Chilton.

If it is you, John, please drop me a line, tell me how you are and maybe I’ll tell you about how I once met Alex Chilton…

got your Christmas letter from Aunt Jude … music, Nepal … giving back … good for you ! writing from Anguilla where Brenda has just retired from child and family therapy and I recently refurbished an old hospital and donated tools from my business to make a vocational training school.
Our son Innis is a fashion photographer (menhirphoto.com) who has been doing props for film and tv since the recession cuts.
Don’t know if you were asked this but did you work in some kind of outreach program at Coventry Cathedral ? There’s a friend from Barbados that knew a John Callaway there but it’s quite a while ago.
Be well, be safe and accept our best wishes for you and yours this and coming years. Chris, Brenda and Innis Lawrence
